Abstract

Sexual violence that occurs in childhood is an important event, especially to the treatment of sexual violence because it has a negative impact on the lives of victims in their adult years. Child sexual abuse has a different traumatic effect on a person and can be very worrying because it can have long term effects throughout the child's life. This study aims to map the coping strategies used by victims (adult women who have experienced incest) to deal with their social environment problems. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The study informants were victims of incest committed by the adoptive father, totalling 7 people in the Bandung Regency area. This research focuses on how the coping strategies used by victims (adult women who have experienced incest) in dealing with their problems in their social environment involvement in activities, self-control, and instrumental social support for incest victims are more likely to avoid the source of the problem. At the same time, the second aspect of coping is Emotion-Focused Coping, which consists of emotional, social support, positive interpretation, acceptance, rejection and religiosity of victims experiencing emotional instability in controlling emotions. This study recommends several things, including strengthening policies regarding child protection, drafting a national action plan against acts of child sexual violence and strict criminal sanctions against incestuous perpetrators.
