The Effectiveness of A Program Based On The Social Story In Developing Expressive Language Among Preschool Children

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal effectiveness of a program based on the social story in developing expressive language among a sample of preschool children. The study sample consisted of (40) children, of whom (24) males and (16) females distributed randomly into two groups equally: experimental and control, the experimental group was trained on the training program, whereas the control group didn’t receive any treatment. To achieve the study objectives, the Quasi-experimental approach was adopted and the expressive language questionnaire which consisted of (17) items distributed to the expressive language skills (make sounds,  make words, word synthesis, building short  sentences, employing conjunctions such as prepositions and pronouns). The results of the study showed statistically significant differences in the study members responses on the test of the expressive language skills, and they were for the members of the experimental group where the arithmetic mean in the pre-measurement of the members of the experimental group was (1.34), and it became in the post-measurement (2.35), the arithmetic mean in the pre-measurement of the members of the control group was (1.29), and it became in the post-measurement (1.38).
