Academic Writing Collaboration to Responding Civilization Issues: Critical Case Study in Google Docs Learning System in Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

One of the sectors that keep going even if it is affected by Covid 19 is education. Through study from home (SFH), a system of educators is increasing and getting more complex, especially in managing the interaction of teachers and students. Teaching and learning activities are oriented towards critical thinking and class design to solve problems in a pandemic-prone field. So the educators must be resourceful in the teaching and learning process, including virtual activities in cyberspace by utilizing various learning platforms. One application that can be used is Google Docs. This article tries to describe and explain (1) the use of the google docs application in learning to write scientific papers based on collaborative learning; (2) the process and results of learning to write scientific papers by utilizing the google docs application based on collaborative learning. The research is a case study research in the vocational study program. The results showed that (1) the use of google docs in learning to write scientific papers based on collaborative learning was carried out in five stages, namely preparation, writing, monitoring and guiding, reviewing, and evaluating; (2) the use of google docs based on collaborative learning makes the process run effectively and teaching-learning activity also gets good results. The use of google docs is an alternative learning media recommended in teaching-learning activities, especially in learning to write scientific papers.
